Un psicólogo es un profesional de la conducta humana. Es un especialista en las leyes del aprendizaje, y aplica estas mismas leyes para enseñar nuevos comportamientos que sustituyan a los que nos hacen daño.
Es decir, el psicólogo enseña una serie de habilidades, de técnicas, y de estrategias psicológicas para conseguir que las personas afronten los problemas de forma exitosa hasta superarlos.
El psicólogo trabaja como un entrenador. Un entrenador de atletismo que conoce ejercicos, tácticas, técnicas que enseña a sus atletas para que éstos progresivamente, las vayan aplicando y ensayando hasta dominarlas, consiguiendo, entonces, alto rendimiento deportivo.
El entrenador no corre por el atleta, el psicólogo no se enfrenta al problema por el cliente. El entrenador y el psicólogo enseñan CÓMO manejar las situaciones-problema, pero debe quedar claro que quien “suda” física y psicologicamente es el atleta y el cliente.
Ninguna terapia funciona si el cliente no se esfueza, no participa activamente. Así pues, cuanto más trabajes en ti mismo y por la terapia, más eficaz y rápida será.
